Mumbai:

Sajid Khan with his beloved home theatre system

Sajid khan is a self-confessed homebody. He loves to gaze out at the ocean from the terrace of his beloved 10th floor flat in Juhu. "I love to stay at home. Even when I am doing shows abroad, I like to catch late night flights just to return home," says Sajid.

Spacious, airy and uncluttered, Sajid's home reflects his simple tastes. After a successful stint as a stand up comedian on TV, he assumed the role of a director with his first Bollywood flick, Heyy Babyy and is now working on a couple of projects. We take you in his house for a better look.

Home-buying is: an experience. Thankfully it wasn't too tough for me. I was born in Juhu and have lived in this suburb till date, especially because I love to stay close to the sea. I bought this house from family friends almost 10 years back. At that time, I was looking for homes in places like Bandra and Versova. But the moment I came to know this flat was up for sale, I grabbed it. I just love the airy feel and the open view from my terrace.

The interiors are: very simple. My sister Farah has done up the house. I like the colour white because it signifies luxury and cleanliness. That is why the walls and beds are done up in white. And since I love empty spaces, the décor is minimal.

The theme: is in accordance with Feng Shui principles. On a closer look, you'll notice there are no edges in my house, everything is rounded off. Though I am not superstitious, I feel that my house always gives positive vibes.

My favourite corner: is my bedroom. I love to lie down on my bed and watch movies on my home theatre system. I also love my terrace. I like to do my script discussions sitting out in the open.

Buying your own house: gives you a great feeling. But it's not really an achievement. Every human being needs a roof on his head. An architect makes a house, but a family makes it a home. People buy homes to show off their wealth or status, but that shouldn't be the case. You should buy a house that gives you good vibes, even if it's a 1BHK.
