Payal's thought for food
I am a: Vegetarian. Eggetarian actually, as I sometimes have egg whites in my diet.
My favourite food is: Paneer. I can have paneer for lunch and dinner as well.
I begin my day with: Tea and biscuits.
My breakfast earlier was: Protein shake as I was playing an aerobic instructor in Dil Kabaddi and wanted to lose weight. After Bigg Boss, I lost a lot of weight, so I have poha, fruits and coconut water.
My lunch is: Rotis, vegetable, dal, salads and curd.
My evening snack is: Again tea and Marie biscuits.
My dinner is: Light paneer, curd and salads.
In sweets: I like ice creams, gulab jamun, rasgulla, and coconut mithai.
My fitness regimen is: Yoga, it was kathak practice earlier. I trained at a gym for 'Dil Kabaddi' to get the lean look. Post Bigg Boss I think sweeping floors, washing clothes and utensils is the best way to lose weight.
My favourite restaurants: Zodiac Grill at the Taj, Colaba. I like the food, especially the cheese soufflé and the ambience.
I can cook: A lot of vegetarian dishes post Bigg Boss as I learned how to feed myself and 10 others. I cooked cabbage, aloo, cauliflower, chole, rotis, parathas.
During my stay in Big Boss's house: The inmates encouraged me to experiment with dishes. I got an opportunity to try out stuff. I think my veg pulao was liked by all.
I relished Zulfi's cooking: He used minimum oil and masalas, a healthy style of cooking. He made delicious sooji halwa.
While I was in the house I missed: Chilled Diet Coke and cold coffee.
One dish I made keeping Rahuls' taste in mind: Well I kept every vegetarian's taste in mind whenever I was cooking. Since Rahul is a vegetarian I did ask him also if he was ok before I went ahead with a particular dish.
My favourite cooks in my family: My nani is a great cook and she makes awesome chole bature and my mom makes simple but yummy food because she puts her heart in her cooking. I love her aloo parathas.
My best dining friends are: My family. They are my only friends.
On Sundays: I binge on food at home without feeling guilty.
One thing I can't resist buying is: Trust me I control my shopping urges pretty well.
I feel guilty after eating: Sweets but that is rare.
My childhood memory comprises: Opening my tiffin during lunch break at school and not sharing with any kids because they would eat it all up.
I think I resemble: A coconut I am strong and tough from outside and soft from within.
My comfort food: Aloo parathas as they are filling and easy to make.
My favourite spice: Me. I love life and spice it like my food when I want.
My favourite poison: Chilled water.
My favourite kitchen appliance: A mixer and cooker as I realised their importance in the Bigg Boss house. We didn't have either.
My favourite foods are: Indian and Thai cuisines.
My idea of a romantic meal is: Beach, candlelit dinner, music, my man and me.
Payal's favourite dish: Aloo Parathas
Ingredients
4 potatoes Salt to taste 1 tsp red chilli powder (or as per taste) 1/2 tsp garam masala powder 2 finely chopped green chillies (or as per taste) 1 medium sized finely chopped onion 2 cups wheat flour Water for the dough Oil/ghee
Method
Boil potatoes in a pressure cooker till done. Peel off the outer layer and mash the potatoes. Add salt, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, green chillies and onions. Mix well. Make the wheat flour dough by adding water. Keep aside for 20 minutes. Divide the dough into equal portions. Take a portion, make a round ball and flatten it. Apply some oil on it. Place a heaped spoon of aloo stuffing on it. Flatten another portion of the dough, place on it and roll it into a paratha. Roast the paratha on a pre-heated tawa. Apply oil/ghee while flipping sides. Roast evenly on both sides till done. Repeat with the remaining dough and aloo stuffing. Serve hot with curd, pickle or butter.
