5 cosmetics that you can get rid of
By: Sheena Thomas

Mumbai: Ya gals, we know that it's easier for you to get rid of your boyfriends than your cosmetics, but not all makeup items are fashionable anymore. So, if you aren't vying for a role in the next Vikram Bhatt horror flick, please throw away all your vampish makeup. Read on to find out what needs to be dumped:

Red lipstick
You aren't Marilyn Monroe so there is a slim chance that you'll be able to carry off a blood-shot red. You'll end up looking like Rekha instead, maybe even worse. Most Indian women can't do justice to the colour because of their sun kissed skin tone. So you stay away from it
Cooler substitute: Maroons

Black nailpaint
The gory, gothic look that was once a huge hit, is now completely outdated. Even rockstars don't sport the shade any more. You'll look like you've just returned from the grave if you are spotted in black nail polish at work
Cooler substitute: A metallic grey shade

Blue eyeshadow
If you want to scare your colleagues, you need to come up with more ingenious ways of doing it. The only time when you can apply blue eyeshadow is when it is Halloween
Cooler substitute: The lavender and pink palette

Glitter eyeliner
We understand that you want to draw attention to your eyes but a staid kajal can also do the trick for you. Glitter liners not only scream for attention, but also immediately turn you into a vamp
Cooler substitute: Metallic eye pencils

Coloured mascara
The only place where coloured mascara looks good is on magazine covers. You don't have to match the colour of your eyelashes with the colour of your hair. Avoid using brown or glitter mascara, they look too unnatural.
Cooler substitute: Transparent or black mascara
