Imagine how proud our ancient rishi munis would be if they came to know how cool a buzzword yoga has become globally! And imagine how furious they'd turn if they came to know their desi folk haven't been able to adapt it to their current corporate lifestyles while the West has stolen the trick successfully! Take to these simple steps that can not only save wrath-turned-mythical havoc (who knows?!), but also many fatal diseases and early ageing.
But yoga isn't vigorous; how can it possibly help? Art of Living exponent Dinesh Ghodke explains "It's a misconception that yoga isn't effective, and is devoid of action. It's just that there is no fatigue. It helps in improving technical skills, concentration and stability of mind. The best thing about yoga is that it assures better people skills, which is a must for young pros today. 12 to 24 rounds of Surya Namaskar is what I advise."

Workstation Wonders
Opt for any of these once or twice every two hours to feel fresh, focussed and re-energised
Five jive
Clench your hand into a fist with the palm facing the face. Extend your fingers and hold and return to the fist position.
Breathtaking
Sit with legs folded on your chair, extend arms to form an index-finger-touches-tip-of-thumb-mudrika. Gently place your neck on the backrest, looking upwards (or shut the eyelids in case of too many visual distractions). Take a few deep breaths, ideally one inhale-exhale cycle in five seconds. Plug in some Sufi or lounge music if your bay is too noisy for comfort.
Shoulder it
With arms extended overhead and palms together, stretch arms upward and slightly backwards. Alternatively, interlock your fingers in front of you at shoulder height. Turn your palms outward as you extend your arms forward and feel a stretch. You could also roll the shoulders, raise them, pull them back, then drop them and relax.
Back to basics
With your fingers intertwined behind your head, keep your elbows straight out to the side and your upper body in a well aligned position. Pull your shoulder blades together to create a feeling of tension through your upper back and shoulder blades. Let go and feel the release.
Heavy necking
Roll your head slowly from side to front to side, keeping your back straight. If a particular position feels tight, stop and hold a stretch.
Lift kara de
Sit forward on the chair so that your back is not touching the chair's back. Place feet flat on the floor. With a straight leg, lift one foot a few inches off the floor. Hold momentarily, return it to the floor and repeat with the other leg.
Ankle angle
Hold one foot off the floor, leg straight. Alternately flex ankle (pointing toes up) and extend (pointing toes toward the floor). Repeat with the other leg.
Toe away zone
Place feet shoulder-width apart, heels on the floor. Swing toes in, then out.
Yo, affirms top yogi
We asked Bollywood yoga guru Bharat Thakur if he supports this new form of meditation...
"Artistic yoga practices are soothing and easy to follow in today's work environs. They are helpful in overall development a peaceful mind and a fit body. While in office, one should opt for asanas that are easy, like Shavasana lying on the back, releasing limb control completely and breathing deeply, and Tadasana (or Mountain Pose) a very basic standing position with feet together and hands at the sides of the body, that promotes confidence and happiness, apart from improving posture and creating space within the body."
