With expansion plans ruling the priority list for the two entrepreneurs Nandita has tied up with international brands SweetPea, Junk Food T-shirts, True Religion jeans and J Brands while Renu's Eastern Treasure will now sell luxury fabrics from Augst by Mona and Sadiq Meherally, Elementto's wallpapers and classic furniture by Tania Deol a larger space was the need of the hour.
"Renu was a classmate at school; we've been friends ever since. Starting our respective stores at one location is easier on us since we can oversee each other's stores while the other is away travelling. Besides, it's a double deal for our customers, since we have a similar client profile," says Nandita.
The two, however, admit to have opposite personalities, and the interiors of their individual stores lies testimony to the fact. Nandita's all-white interiors stand in contrast to the earthy, old English warmth of Renu's 3,000 square feet space.
What you can expect at Eastern Treasure
A collection of cast iron pieces, Venetian tables, rugged antique leather trunks and accessories. Trendier pieces include mirrors, consoles, sofas in leather and fabric, rugs and chairs. Lights and accessories imported from France and Italy, and a locally manufactured export range that includes leather desk accessories and frames. Indonesian pottery, Buddha sculptures, candles, lamps coffee tables and funky artifacts.
Celeb clients: Renu has wrapped up work on Saif Ali Khan's new film office, Natasha & Fardeen Khan's home. Actor Amrita Singh has bought furniture from Eastern Treasure. Renu has worked with Hrithik Roshan's wife Suzanne, also an interior decorator.
What to shop for at Ananya
A self-imposed sabbatical saw Nandita take a break from Mumbai and relocate to her hometown London, where she styled hip-hop artist Rico's music video. She's back, rejuvenated, as she introduces new international brands including Ella Moss, Queen Of Evil, Ondade Mar (swimwear), Bia Brazil (yoga fitness), sunglasses by Linda Ferro and Spitfire along with a small selection of belts and bags. Her own line Ananya, provides clothing options with a new range of her bestseller kaftans, tunics and sarees, for the upcoming festive season.
Celeb clients: Actor Katrina Kaif, Shahrukh Khan's wife Gauri, and Hollywood actor Liz Hurley.
