Gaurav Gupta takes constructive criticism well. He was accused of running short on inspiration and resorting to imitating his previous collections. A vacation in Barcelona this summer, introduced him to Antoni Gaudi's architecture and the importance of being stubborn when it comes to following your artistic vision.
The range: Centred around form and play, circular pieces of cotton silk, silk tulle, voile, jersey, chiffon and poplin were cut to give a new dimension to anti-fit. "It's meant to make a woman of any shape, feel desirable," Gaurav said.
Bursts of red, peacock blue, orange, purple and hot pink broke his label's affinity with pastels and muted hues. His signature vine motif made its presence felt silently, in monotone details on tops and dresses, and at other times, setting evening dresses ablaze in spray of matt gold sequins. If a trip is the magic potion, how about a trip to Ibiza next?
