From Khowsuey to salmon-cheese pizza, Zuri promises to lay out a feast on Sundays
Every time I enter Zuri, the magnificent lobby transports me into the realm of fantasy. This time around, what stunned me was the Sunday brunch spread, which was nearly half a mile long across the lobby!
Praying hard that I would still be standing after the last morsel, I started my sojourn at the salad bar. The Zuri Caesar Salad, with chunks of juicy pineapple and shredded chicken in a mayo dressing, was a good if greasy beginning. Then, the khowsuey beckoned. This Burmese meal-in-a-bowl has a comforting mix of noodles, veggies, greens, beef, prawns and chicken in broth. Flavoured with garlic and chilli flakes, it was very satisfying. Downing bowl after bowl, I was truly in foodie heaven.
Giving the pasta counter a miss, I treated my taste buds to creamy and crunchy Dahi Puri before attacking the Mushroom Saute, which had button mushrooms in garlic-flavoured butter. The Benne Kozhi or chicken cooked in butter, Kerala-style, was too oily for my taste, and the chicken could have been marinated longer. My main course was a slice of Salmon-Cheese Pizza, the roast salmon being an interesting topping on the thin-crust pizza.

The dessert counter has Gajar ka Halwa, Gulab Jamun, Qubani Ka Meetha and Raspberry Pyramid. The Gajar Ka Halwa was practically bursting with flavour good quality carrots and just the right amount of sugar being the secrets.
One would imagine that a brunch of such proportions would cost the earth. But Zuri has priced the massive spread at Rs 650 per person.
At: Khawa, Zuri Business Hotel, Hoodi, Whitefield Main Road Wallet Factor: Rs 650 per person (without taxes); Rs 800 per person (with unlimited beer or wine). |
