Delhi: Author Vikram Seth's Shadowlands asks you to sleep with the enemy of depression to wake up to a "half-free of sorrow tomorrow". But we'd have preferred it if Varun Sardana quoted Mark Twain's Road Less Travelled. The designer took the path least taken, and it made all the difference.

Dark is deadly, but beautiful too, said a collection that paced up and down a ramp strewn with crushed autumn leaves.

The optimism that surface textures offer (applique, patchwork and cording), geometric Origami patterns, sensual tassel fringes and a shaded sheeting technique, combined classic with sporty silhouettes, making it an androgynous showcase.

Masculine styles including the tailcoat, and men's shirts were transformed into cheeky feminine silhouettes.

He sliced structure with fluidity, contradicted the rich with street, when he showcased the conventional fitted sherwani in draped jersey fabric, and exchanged rich silk threadwork for paper clips, snap buttons and hooks.
