If you wish your home looked cosy and comfortable, here are some quick tips to help get the desired look:|
Light plays an important in lending a particular look to a place. Yellow lights are most effective in giving a room a cosy look. Use incandescent bulbs instead of fluorescent ones. Your switchboard can control the amount of light to wish to spread.
Place long lamps at the room corners with down shades. They will cast light only in the corners of the room and maintain the cosy look.
If you have a big space, then choose big furniture pieces to give the room a small appearance. Remember to buy dark wood furniture.
Paint your walls in warm colours. Dark colours absorb light and make the room seem smaller.
You can spread a dark carpet on the floor. Teamed with the dark walls they will make a room look cosier.
Choose soft textured linen for your upholstery or bold prints as that adds a homely feel. You can use quilts as throws for your couch.
Avoid using a mirror. If you want to put it up, place it such that it doesn't reflect the outdoors.
Put up a big painting. If you don't wish to invest a lot, a tapestry will also work fine.
If you have pale walls and do not wish to spend on a paint job, hang curtains in warm colours to give the impact.
