Java Grind in Yashodham Shopping Centre, Film City Road, has managed to create quite a buzz in its first week of opening. So what sets this coffee shop apart?

According to branch manager Sahid Khan, it is the economics of it all. "Our drinks and food items are priced at really affordable rates," he says.

Java Grind has the quintessential coffee shop look with warm colours, high-end speakers playing rock music et al. The shop has a graffiti wall where customers can scribble messages.

They also have a projection TV screen right behind the counter, which is big enough for all to view rather than the high-perched 12 inch monitors.

The chef recommends the Moo chillers and Moo steamers, which are essentially flavoured milk drinks. They come in interesting flavours like Chocolate Biscotti, Butter Rum, Cream Caramel and Green Apple.

Alternatively, if you're there to satiate a hunger pang try the Mexican Veg Wrap or the Paneer Achari Roll (both priced at Rs 40). And sorry meat lovers, this joint is purely vegetarian.
