BMC's free information kiosk inaugurated
By:

Dr Shantaram Kudalkar, deputy municipal commissioner, inaugurated BMCs free information kiosk at Diamond Garden on Oct 17.

These kiosks have been developed by infobay interactive India Private Ltd, which will operate them on a Build Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis for five years, after which they will be handed over to the BMC. The plan is to have 250 such kiosks all over Mumbai in the next five years.

These kiosks provide free access to specific government and information based sites on the internet and provide facilities to lodge complaints online. The kiosks can also be used for checking railway bookings, passport and income tax applications.

Initially, a company promotor will assist users. The kiosks will remain open for 10-12 hours a day. The time is restricted to 10 minutes per user.
