His sister Kunika (of the Lipstick fame) may be a popular TV and film actress in her own right but that did not make Kabir Sadanands entry into the world of glamour too easy.

After staging his first play Touch n Go with Kunika in 1999, Kabir struggled for the right break till producer Manish Goswami offered him the role of a drug addict in the serial Darar (Zee TV).

After this, there was no looking back for this Lokhandwala resident, who has acted in serials including Tamanna, Sparsh, Gardish, Had Kar Di and Shagun. His debut film was Vasu Bhagnanis Deewanapan, which was released last year.

His second film, Mumbai Matinee, which stars Rahul Bose and Perizaad Zorabia, will see a Sept 26 release. Here, he talks about his role and his future plans.

Excerpts from the interview:

How did it feel to be part of a Bollywood comedy?

Mumbai Matinee was a great experience. I play the role of a copywriter named Rakesh who works under Rahul Bose. Rahul is desperately trying to lose his virginity and in this attempt falls in love.

It is a fun movie and now after my friend and director Anant Balanis death it has become even more special.

What are the other films lined up for release?

I am doing a guest appearance in Anant Balanis Chameli and I am also playing the role of a patriotic cop in 24 Hours Ek Din. There is also Digmanshu Dhulias Charas, which I am looking forward to as I am playing the main negative character, and that proved very challenging for me.

Now that you are focusing on the movies, will you stop acting in TV serials?

Television will remain my first priority. It gave me my big breaks and has helped me showcase my talents. I will continue doing at least one soap along with films.

My other plans include starting theatres workshops for deaf and dumb students from the Bajaj Institute For the Deaf and Dumb in Malad.
