The Club to showcase exquisite furniture
By:

Anu Khatwani

Khatwani's furniture is oriental in style. Her range includes traditional couches, rocking chairs, dining tables, centre tables with an antique picture frame around it, centre tables with a mirror frames and children's furniture. "I normally work with wood because I like its look and feel. I sometimes combine it with cane or chatai," adds Khatwani.

Tanya Deol

Deol, wife of actor Bobby Deol, will display side tables, sofas and low seating chairs which are actually contemporary version of the old wooden ones. She has used cane and rope in her collection. Her series of carved side consoles, made of white marble, has a very classical Greek look to it.

Shona Jain

Jain has used steel and leather to carve out furniture which is very post-modern in its styling.

Her designs do not follow any set patterns or rules.

She has done a range of chairs, consoles and tables using these materials. "I have used leather in different forms like lace, straps and leather padding," she says.

Shoni Tanna

Wooden show mirrors, wooden chairs and tables make up Tanna's collection for the exhibition.

She has done a range of carved show mirrors, which you can hang anywhere in the house.

Shobana Mehta and Lata Valia

The sister duo who run the store Splendour in Kemps Corner have worked with wood and silver.

The tables they have created for the exhibition are highly ornamental with flower motifs spread across the table surface. They blend well with very ornate kind of interiors as well as modern dcor.

Sunil Mittal

An architect by profession, Mittal has created an entire contemporary range of furniture, which includes beds, tables and chairs. His tables have detachable glass tops, which can be shifted to reveal space inside, where you can put interesting artifacts.

The exhibition will be held on Sept 28 (from 4 pm to 8 pm), Sept 29 and 30 (from 10 am to 8 pm) at the Colonial Hall, The Club, DN Nagar. Price on request
