MMRDA to widen Eastern Express Highway

The work will start within a monthThe MMRDA, under the Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (MUTP) will soon begin work on widening the Eastern Express Highway, from Sion to Mulund.

The project will be executed in the following phases: Sion flyover to Ghatkopar, Ghatkopar to Godrej Company Gate (north), Godrej Company Gate (north) to Juhu Vile Parle Link Road Junction (JVLR), JVLR Junction to Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road Junction and from GMLR Junction to Mulund check naka.

An officer of MMRDA says, The work on the project will start in a month, as tenders have already been invited. The work has been divided into different sections and is likely to start simultaneously on all the sections. depending on the nature of work involved and traffic diversions, the time taken may vary. While some structures may take up to 12 months, some may take up to two years.
