I hope the trustees try to minimise the nuisance
But that peace has been shattered with the opening of a marriage hall in the neighbourhood.
Three hospitals, namely Sushrut Hospital, Swastik Nursing Home and Mangal Anand Hospital located in the same vicinity also have to face the same problem. The Sumati Kutchi Gurjar Samaj Hall, constructed three years ago and owned by the Kutchi Gurjar Jain Samaj is rented out for small functions, meetings and marriages.
We used to love this society for its peace and quiet. But that has been disrupted by the marriage processions, which go around Swastik Park before entering the hall, says Gour Chandra Kar, a resident of Ballaka Society.
Dr Devendra Ingle, who lives in a bungalow opposite the marriage says, In the beginning, I faced a lot of problem due to the noise and illegal parking. When I complained to the trustees, the situation improved. But the problem cropped up again after a few months.
Dr Anand Parihar of Mangal Anand Hospital says, I hope the trustees try to minimise the nuisance by introducing necessary clauses in the agreement.
Response from the trust
Sumati Chandra H Mehta, one of the trustees of the Kutchi Gurjar Jain Samaj, says, The memorandum of understanding that the clients sign before renting the hall clearly states that no firecrackers should be burst or loud music played on road leading from Swastik Chambers and inside the society. Most of the parties follow this, though a few may violate the rule.
He adds, We never extend the timings of the hall beyond 10 pm or else the client is penalised. We are also planning air-conditioning to reduce noise levels.
We are allowed one-side parking by RTO. We ask the clients not to park their cars on the other side but its difficult to manage them in the peak hours.
