Five months after filing a complaint with the traffic police, residents of Mitr Dham housing society have still not got a respite from the noise and parking problems created by the garages and auto repair shops next to their building.
Residents had filed a formal complaint in Nov 2004, after metro published the article in which officials had demanded that the residents should file a proper complaint (metro Nov 6-12, 2004).
However, nothing has happened since then. Surekha Desarda, a resident of the society, says, We had complained at the traffic division in Mulund about the noise and parking problems. We requested that they put a no-parking board in our area so that vehicles are not parked outside the auto repair shops and create traffic congestions.
Adds Kamini Seth, another resident, We thought that after we sent the written complaint some action would be taken but it has not happened.
Says Sheetal Indulkar, another resident, disappointedly, It looks like we will have to live with our windows shut for as long as we live here.
However, G Malusare, senior inspector, Mulund traffic division, promises action will be taken. My officials have already started inspecting the area and I will get the report in the next seven days.
We cannot make the area a no-parking zone because there is regular traffic and there is no pavement where the vehicles can be parked. But we will try to find a solution to help the residents, he says.
