Within a span of four hours on Nov 9, two people were robbed at the same location in Goregaon. This incident has left the residents scared and they have asked police officials to increase patrolling and security in their area.
The first incident took place at 8 am when an unidentified person snatched a chain from Ratanben Sarvaiya, a second floor resident of Saket Shopping Centre on Goregaon station road.
Seventy-eight-year-old Sarvaiya was returning home from the temple when a man jumped from behind the staircase and puller her Rs 15,000 chain twice. He was successful in the third attempt and also injured Sarvaiya.
The second incident took place at 11.45 am opposite Sarvaiya's residence. Amarshi Phuriya, owner of Modern Silk, was going to the bank to deposit Rs 85,000, which he was carrying in a bag. Forty-nine-year-old Phuriya says that someone pushed him from behind and then ran away with his bag.
The Goregaon Merchant Association treasurer Biren Limbachiya says, After these two incident we have asked the cops for increased patrolling and security.
Sailesh Kale, assistant police commissioner, Goregaon police station, says, We are investigating the case and we will also increase patrolling.
