Noted industrialist Mohanlal Piramal was admitted to Breach Candy hospital here, after he attempted suicide at his residence last evening, police said today.
Piramal shot himself in the head at his Worli residence and was rushed to hospital in critical condition, police added. Mohanlal Piramal, head of the Piramal Group of Industries, allegedly attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head from his personal revolver at his Worli residence, police said today. The 69-year-old industrialist shot himself at around 3 pm yesterday and was rushed to Breach Candy hospital where his condition was stated to be critical as he was still unconscious, police said.
A suicide note, found in his room, stated that he wanted to end his life without giving any reason, they said. Police suspect business problems to be a major reason behind the suicide attempt.
Piramal, who often stayed till late night at his office, had yesterday returned home early at around 2 pm. Around 3.15 pm a close relative and his servant heard gun shots from Piramal's room. Piramal's wife, currently in the US, has been informed about the incident, police said.
