Pakistan has deployed Medium Range Ballistic Missile Batterieis (MRBBs) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Poonch sectors in an action that will further escalate the tension between the two countries.

Pakistan's strategic units have been engaged in the past 24 hours in deploying MRBBs along the LoC in Jammu and Poonch sectors, defence sources told PTI here tonight. "It is disturbing that MRBBs have been deployed along the LoC, particularly in some sensitive areas in Jammu sector,"
the sources said. "We apprehend that Pakistan's strategic units may use ballistic missiles in Jammu sector. We are keeping a close watch," they said.

Some of the MRBBs have been shifted from other sectors and deployed in strategically vulnerable areas in Jammu-Poonch sector, the sources said. The areas where Pakistan have deployed the MRBBs include Akhnoor-Chicken neck, Noushera, Kerni, Balakote and Poonch, they said.

Two additional divisions of Pakistani troops had been reportedly deployed in areas opposite Kargil-Siachen sector, as also snow and high altitude warfare commandoes of Gilgit Scots and Northern Light Infantry in areas opposite Thang, Turtuk, Chorbatla and Drass.
