May 16, 2001 Security has been beefed up along Vashi railway bridge and road bridges today following an anonymous call allegedly by members of Pakistan's ISI, threatening to blow up the railway bridge over the creek.
" The Navi Mumbai railway control received an anonymous call stating that Vashi Railway bridge will be blown up. However, we have not found any evidence to substantiate the claim," DCP Vijay Jhadav told correspondents.
" We have a special patrolling boat stationed below the bridge all through the year to rule out any untoward incident," he said.
Adequate security measures were being taken to thwart any sabotage on the railway bridge, Jhadav said. Not ruling out that the call could be made by a mischief monger, Jhadav, however, said " we are not taking any chances."
