The Western Railway is considering a grand proposal to set up a heritage museum/library at its headquarters in Churchgate here as part of its golden jubilee celebrations.
The museum, which would house many interesting objects including old manuscripts, documents, old grandfather clocks, and railway timetables, was expected to be commissioned by January 2002, an official release said today.
Western Railway would also release a special day postal cover to mark its golden jubilee on November five, it said. A special informative and illustrative corporate brochure highlighting Western Railway's five decade march to prosperity and achievements and a news magazine titled "Rail Darpan" would also be released on the occasion.
A cultural event in the form of a ballet depicting the historical journey from Vedic times to independent India would be staged to commemorate 50 years of Western Railway. A hi-tech exhibition would also be organised as part of the celebrations.
