WR's outgoing general manager V D Gupta informed at a news conference here that 51,370 that cubic metres of garbage, equivalent to 8,562 truck loads, had been removed from the tracks and 25 kms of pucca drains had been cleaned. Roofings at the railway stations had also been strengthened, he said.

Gupta also informed that the divisional railway manager has a flood disaster management plan with detailed instructions to deal with any emergent situation. Scientific information has also been collected for advanced preparedness where heavy downpour coincides with high tide, he added.
