Steve Waugh praises Ganguly |

Hyderabad: Australian Test skipper Steve Waugh today praised Indian captain Sourav Ganguly for his "aggressive" style and credited him for India's resurgence on the world stage. The 'Prince of Kolkata' may have annoyed the steely Australian Test skipper by turning up late for toss the last time the two faced off on a cricket field. But that seems to be a thing of past as Waugh was nothing but all praise for the Indian skipper today. "India has been doing very well in the Tests and one-dayers at home and abroad and credit should go to Ganguly who has infused aggression into the team," Waugh told reporters here. Waugh also has no hard feelings for failing to conquer the 'final frontier' when his team toured India in 2001. Recalling the historic cricket Test in Kolkata, Waugh praised V V S Laxman for his epic 281 -- "a phenomenal innings which snatched the match from our kitty". But Waugh said he was concerned that Laxman has not been able to sustain that form but added that he should not be written off. On his own exclusion from the one-day squad, the Aussie skipper was diplomatic and said "selectors try to notch up the best possible side. Players get their chance by progression and the selectors might have thought that Ricky Ponting was good for one-dayers and I was good for Tests."
