Shrikant Thackeray, younger brother of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and father of Raj Thackeray died of old age and medical complications due to diabetes, at around 11.40 am today, at Dadar. He was 71.
Shrikant Thackeray had helped Bal Thackeray in setting up the journal Marmik in 1960. He contributed to the journal and was also a cartoonist. He was also a renowned music director and had worked at the All India Radio (AIR).
After receiving the news Bal Thackeray rushed to the residence of Shrikant Thackeray along with other family members. A family friend of Raj Thackeray informed that the funeral will take place at around 5.00 pm at Shivaji Park.
According to him, Raj Thackeray is on an election campaign at Nashik and has been informed about the sad news. He is expected to arrive at 4.00 pm.
