ALL SMILES: Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova addresses the media at a press conference in Amby Valley, Khandala Pics: SHASHIKANT BAJPAIThe sprawling acres of Saharas Amby Valley in Khandala were overwhelming. The flowerbeds, the fountains and the serenity did catch ones fancy.
For the 100-odd journalists who traveled from Mumbai, it was a perfect setting to whet the appetite for the main course a chance to meet Anna Kournikova, the glamour doll of world tennis.
But minutes into the press conference organised by Sahara, the disappointments began.
The conference lasted no longer than 10 minutes. Half of which the Russian beauty, dressed in a sky-blue saree, spent in answering questions related to Sahara and Amby Valley.
When she did get time off from praising Sahara, the blonde bombshell managed to clear the air saying that tennis will always be her priority, she is only a part-time model and will return to tennis after recovering from her injury.
She also stressed that it was just a combination of lack of experience in the earlier part of her career, injuries and bad luck that has kept her from winning a title on the Womens Tennis Association Tour in her seven-year career.
But just as the journalists were warming up with their list of questions and the quality of queries was on the rise, the conference was abruptly stopped leaving the media worrying about a tedious journey back to office with nothing more than a few lines jotted on their writing pads.
