A visit to the dentist is a traumatic experience at the best of times for most people. But, Arjun Yadav (18) might remember his visit to the dentist for all the wrong reasons.
The Vikhroli police have registered a case against dentist Girish Bhat for allegedly making sexual advances towards Yadav, a resident of Tagore Nagar 2, Vikhroli (E).
In his statement to the police, Yadav claimed that the incident occurred when he visited the dentist on October 16 while Bhat (24) was alone in the clinic.
During the course of the treatment, he alleges that the dentist made sexual advances towards him, and when he objected, Bhat slapped him. Yadav claims that the dentist misbehaved with him for nearly an hour.
According to investigating officer Keshavrao More of the Vikhroli police station, Yadav kept the incident to himself that day, but later he told his friends about it, and they decided to inform the police. On the basis of the complaint, the police arrested Bhat, who was released on bail of Rs 950.
Bhat, however, denies the allegation. He alleges that a police constable visited the clinic on November 18 and said that his superior officer was suffering from a toothache and inquired about the timing of the clinic.
A little later, a police van arrived at the clinic and Bhat was asked to accompany them to the police station, so that he could treat the superior officer at the police station. He claims that the police then informed him of the complaint made against him.
Bhat said, I have just started my career and some people who have a vested interest, are trying to make false allegations to tarnish my image. He also objected to the police asking him to go for a medical examination.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Yadav worked as a helper in a bakery at Vikhroli, while Bhat was a part-time employee in the clinic run by his former college lecturer Dr Sujata Tambe.
