New Delhi: Noted Bollywood actress Hema Malini, who was today sworn in as a nominated member of Rajya Sabha, later said she would work for BJP in Parliament.

"I shall do all the work for BJP. Though I am not a member of the party but I would love to be associated with BJP. I am here because of them only," 55-year-old Malini, whose swearing in coincided with her brithday today, told reporters after becoming an MP.

Asked if she would vote for the party in the House, she said "if such occasion rises... if required, I shall vote for them (BJP)."

Terming her entry in Parliament as a great honour, she said "I know people have great expectation from me and I shall try to live up to their expectations."

She also emphasised that she would continue to work for progress in art and culture, besides carrying out her Parliamentary responsibilities. "Till now I was performing dance for different causes like children and women and Indian film industry but now I will take up these issues at appropriate levels."
