Hyacha dhaar bagha, (see how sharp this is) said 15-year-old Sajan Balke (name changed) sliding his finger gingerly up and down the sickle.

Balke had taken the sickle to his neighbours house with the intention of killing her, but changed his mind at the last minute. He wanted to rob the house to get spending money. In another instance, he wanted to kidnap a boy from the locality to extort money.

This is Sajan Balke, who along with his accomplice, 15-year-old Jignesh Mehta (name changed) killed Naina Parmar and grievously injured her sons, Jitesh and Jatin, on Wednesday.

The reason for the murder? Balke explains nonchalantly, I wanted to buy a motorcycle so that I could ride around with my girlfriend. I also wanted to buy a gun to rob other people.

Mehta added that Balke was also angry with Naina as she had complained to his mother that shed spotted him with a girl. His parents had scolded him and he decided to teach her a lesson.

After interrogation, the police were stunned to discover that Balke, the brain behind the plot, had planned Nainas murder like a professional criminal.

They had used gloves to prevent fingerprints and instead of panicking when they realised they couldnt escape through the door, coolly, climbed down the drainpipe.

Senior police inspector Rajan Ghule of Mira Road police station added that the boys, and Balke in particular were so blas that the police had to threaten them with dire consequences to make them speak.

Accomplice Mehta revealed that the murder conspiracy was hatched a week before the incident. They did a recce of Parmars house just three days before the murder on the pretext of asking for a glass of water.

It is extremely unfortunate that young boys are behaving like this. Its the influence of movies and serials, said Ghule.

The boys have confessed to the crime and they were produced before the juvenile court, Bhiwandi on Friday afternoon. The boys will be sent to the childrens remand home, Bhiwandi.

Naina dies while being treated at a private hospital and her son Jatin is admitted with serious head injuries.

The Mira Road police arrest Balke and Mehta for the crime within a day. The boys confess to the crime.

The boys reveal a degree of professionalism that leave the police shocked. They wanted to buy a gun from the loot, so that they could commit robberies.

They are sent to the Childrens Remand Home, Bhiwandi.

How is Jatin doing?

Jatin (5) is admitted in the intensive care unit of Holy Spirit hospital, Andheri (E). His condition is said to be critical and is presently under observation. The assailant banged his head on the wall, when he intervened to save his mother on hearing her screams.

Jatin was earlier taken to a private hospital in Mira Road, but was later shifted to Andheri. A CT scan of his head has showed injuries to his skull.

The brain behind the murder

Sajan Balke (15) a resident of Gomati Apartments, Bhayander (E) had just appeared for his SSC examination from Saraswati High School, Bhayander.

Inspector Ghule said that Balke wasnt academically bright and had started his foray into crime by stealing cash from his house. It is not known what the total amount stolen so far was, but in one instance, Balke filched as much as Rs 7000.

Hed asked his parents to buy him a motorcycle, which they refused, so Balke decided to get one himself by stealing money. For this, he wanted a gun, which his friend Rahul was to arrange for him from Uttar Pradesh
.

His father is employed as a clerk with the Regional Transport Office, Tardeo and he was disheartened to learn about his sons involvement in the murder.

The accomplice

Jignesh Mehta (15) is Balkes classmate and comes from a poor family.

He started committing thefts at his neighbours house, for which he was never caught, and agreed to assist Balke in the crime.

He was initially scared, but Balke urged him to slit Nainas throat.

Balke also gave him gloves, so that his fingerprints did not remain on the knife.

Naina Parmar with
her husband Harshad
I have to survive for my sons, says victims husband

Harshad Parmar (29) has not reacted after learning of the gruesome attack on his family and the death of his wife. Parmar, a tax consultant shifted to the building a year ago.

I was to take my family for an outing on my birthday on May 26. We had planned to eat out, but now everything will be in vain, he said.

Parmar was away at work in Kalbadevi, when the assailants entered the house. It was only on reaching the hospital that he learnt about the tragic incident.

The media is to be blamed for enlightening youngsters on how to commit crime and evade arrest. The parents should play a better role in bringing up their kids.

I have to survive for my sons, I cannot lose control over myself, he said. But what have they (assailants) achieved by doing this to us? he asks.
