Islamabad: Pakistan today successfully test fired a medium range nuclear-capable missile in an effort to strengthen the country's defence, government and military officials said. The new version of the Ghauri V missile, which has a maximum range of 1,500 kilometers was test fired from an undisclosed area of Pakistan, said government and defence officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. The missile hit its target area. The officials said Pakistan had informed its neighbours, including India, before conducting the test, which was designed to strengthen the country's defence. They said the missile covered a distance of 900 kilometers where the target was located.
