Salim Sonda, a suspected henchman and extortonist of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, was arrested by the crime branch in Agripada area of Central Mumbai, police said today. Acting on a tip-off, unit three of the branch laid a trap and arrested Salim late last night, police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Dhananjay Kamlakar said Salim was a notorious extortionist and wanted in several cases. He said Salim was close to Dawood's sister, who lives in Mumbai, and had attended the wedding ceremony of Dawood's nephew Danesh in Mumbai a few months ago.
Police kept survelliance at the marriage venue but Salim gave them the slip.
