Kelvin Fernandes had booked Velocity for the bash and paid Rs 40,000 in advance for about 100 guests he expected. Kelvin is now CEO of Brilliant Entertainment Network which organizes events and concerts across the country.
First there was a timing issue when the music was stopped within an hour after the party started at 11 pm. Then there was a dispute over settlement of the bill.
After requests to the Velocity director who is a great friend, I managed to continue the party to 1.30 am, which is the official cut-off time, Kelvin explained.
The matter erupted again when I found Rs 1350 extra added to the bill. So I asked them why I was charged over and above the Rs 40,000 I had already paid for 100 guests, when only 78 had turned up, Kelvin said.
The Nokia phone that was smashed Kelvin alleged that he was assaulted by the Velocity manager, three associates and some bouncers, and that they had smashed his Nokia communicator when he tried to call the discos director again.
