A photo of Shriya Sharma from her portfolioActing karte karte main teacher banna chahti hoon says eight-year-old child artiste Shriya Sharma, who is currently shooting for Anees Bazmis movie Benam along with Ajay Devgan, Bhumika Chawla, Sameera Reddy and Rahul Dev.

In a world where even adults find it difficult to make career decisions, Shriya is too confused about what to do with the number of offers for movies, serials and advertisements she is getting.

Sensible parents

Shriya is very talented and we have just explored her talent but we have to be careful as she is in Class III and has to study now. Her dream is to become a teacher. We cant decide anything about her future. I just want her to be the best in whatever she does, said Shriyas father, Vikas Sharma.

I have always loved acting. My inspiration comes from stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Other than acting, I like swimming, studying, playing chess and eating chocolates. I want to become a teacher in the future, says little Shriya.

Every one wants her

Shriya was discovered on Saharas Say Na Something To Anupam Uncle, when she was just three-and-a-half years old.

She played the lead role as Krishna in the serial Kanhaiya when she was around four. There was no looking back for this little tot after that and she went on to act in a Zee serial Jhooth Bole Kauva Kaate for nearly 40 episodes. Even Balaji Films wanted a part of Shriya and cast her in Kasauti Zindagi Ki as Sneha.

Shriya has featured in several ads like Rasna, HDFC Bank, Clinic Plus, Asian Paints and Nirma. She will also appear in a Nikhil Advani movie alongside Anil Kapoor and has had film offers from Rajshri Productions and Ram Gopal Vermas Factory.

Child stars who made it

Urmila Matondkar: She featured in movies Kalyug with Rekha and Masoom with Shabana Azmi when she was a kid.

Hrithik Roshan: Appeared in Aasha (1980) with Jeetendra and Reena Roy. His second movie was Aap Ke Deewane (1980) with Rishi Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan and Tina Munim and then he acted in Bhagwan Dada (1986).

Aftab Shivdasani: He acted as an orphan in Mr India with Anil Kapoor, Sridevi and Amrish Puri.

And those who did not

Junior Mehmood: A versatile artiste who tried everything from acting to directing but was never successful. He acted in Farishta and Sangram.

Jugal Hansraj: Was greatly appreciated in Masoom as a child artiste, but never managed to make it even though he starred in films like Yash Chopras Mohabbatein and Mahesh Bhatts Papa Kehte Hain
