Linda Evangelista is touched by the amazing spirit of the women living in KamathipuraPeople asked me why I was hugging the sex workers at Kamathipura, says Linda Evangelista, supermodel and brand ambassador of cosmetic giant MAC.

I told them that it was not they who wanted warmth and affection, it was me.

The 40 year-old beauty, who is in Mumbai to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, says she was, touched by the amazing spirit of the women living in the area.

I was surprised to see that they were taking control of their lives and were united in their fight against the virus; this is something you dont see in the West, says Linda and adds, The proceeds from the sale of every Viva Glam MAC lipstick will go to organisations and people living with HIV/AIDS. In fact, in India, one lipstick, which costs Rs 950, can actually feed an entire family for a day!

Holding a HIV positive child in her arms, Linda says, I love children. I want to do something for the children of sex workers in Mumbai who are at high risk.

She has donated a cheque of $2,50,000 on behalf of MAC to an NGO, YRG Care, towards building a hospital for HIV patients.

She says that she now gets out bed for a much better reason: Im part of a team that raises millions of dollars and awareness for HIV and AIDS globally, says the supermodel. And my part in this is to do the thing I can do really well sell lipstick, quips Linda. She had once famously said, I dont get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day.

She adds that shes looking forward to ageing and cant understand why women hanker after youth.
