At 7.30 pm, three children, aged between 3 and 5 years, complained of stomachache and started vomiting.

When the vomiting did not stop, they were immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors confirmed that it was a case of food poisoning. At 2 am this morning, Prema Singh (26), who is pregnant, was also admitted to the hospital.

Since it was Raksha Bandhan we decided to buy sweets from a nearby shop. Everybody got their sweets from the same shop. However, in the evening, children started complaining and we had to take them to the hospital, said Amita Yadav (28), whose three children have been admitted to the hospital.

Radha Chavan (29), whose daughter Tashu (3) is also ill, said, She was playing and she suddenly collapsed. When she got up she started vomiting. It was very scary.

All of them are now out of danger. A complaint has been registered at Cuffe Parade police station. We will be asking residents if there have been any such incidents before. We will also question the shop owner as to why it happened, said a police official.
