Their admiration for the celebrated Indian singer is another thing Nelly Furtado and AR Rahman have in common apart from being great parents.

At a suburban hotel on the eve of her first Mumbai show, the Canadian singer would have passed off for a Punjabi kudi in a shimmering copper sulphate ghagra-choli.

Though her rendition of one line of Kabhi Kabhi was a dead giveaway. I was even invited to sing at an Indian wedding once, said Nelly breaking into a loud cackle.

When asked about their childrens reaction to their music Nelly said, My daughters incredibly musical. She comes to my studio with her earphones and is always criticising my work. And shes quite discerning, said Nelly. Rahman added that his 11-year-old daughter just completed her piano exam. Shes passed with merit, said the proud papa.

Both the stars will perform their biggest hits including Im Like A Bird, Powerless, Maneater, songs from the soundtrack of Guru and Bombay. Rahman will also perform Pray For Me Brother, his poverty anthem for the UN for the first time in India.

Grammy-nominated hip hop artiste and Lonely singer Akon will perform in Mumbai on January 13 at the Bandra Kurla complex to mark Channel [V]s 13th birthday.
