The HSC and SSC boards have said they wont postpone the Std XII exams, scheduled for February 21, and the Std X exams, scheduled for March 7, despite the threat of a strike by rail employees.
March 1 strike threat
Thousands of railway workers have threatened to go on strike from March 1, a decision that will affect thousands of city students. Education Minister Vasant Purake was, however, unaware of the impending strike.
HSC and SSC board chairman Vasant Kalpande said that there would be no change in the exam schedule no matter what. He told Mid Day this morning, We are hoping that the March 1 rail strike is called off, but irrespective of the rail strike, the board will not amend the exam schedule.
Alternatives
The board however, has said that if the strike took place, they would make alternative arrangements for students.
We will also negotiate with the state government to make sufficient conveyance facilities available to students, Kalpande said. |
