New York: Supermodel Naomi Campbell was arrested in New York for allegedly assaulting her assistant, who had to be hospitalised. Campbell, 35, was taken into police custody yesterday from her home in midtown Manhattan, a police spokeswoman said. Police first learned of the alleged assault when they were called to Lenox Hill Hospital, where Campbell's assistant, described as a 42-year-old Hispanic female, had been taken for treatment. "She had a laceration to her head, so she was clearly hit with some sort of object," the police spokeswoman said. Campbell was being held by the police pending possible charges, the spokeswoman added. Campbell, who shot to fame after being discovered by Elite Modeling agents near her London home when she was just 15, is well known for her fiery temper.
