Most of us crib about dirty trains but forget our grievances until our next journey.
But C Keshava Rao, an advocate from Raichur, lodged a complaint with the consumer forum against the South Central Railways and was suitably compensated for having to suffer a dusty and uncomfortable journey from Raichur to Bangalore.
The State Consumer Commission has ordered the South Central Railways to pay Rs 2,500 as compensation for the inconvenience caused to Rao.
When I boarded the train I was shocked to see thick layers of dust on the berth. Other berths in the compartment were also very dirty, he said in his appeal.
Rao then asked a train attendant to clean it. Angered by the indifferent attitude of the railways staff towards passengers, Rao lodged a complaint, alleging deficiency of service with the Raichur district branch of the consumer commission.
