EXPOSED: In its report on March 21 (Wednesday), MiD DAY exposed a corrupt peon at Shivam Vidya Mandir School and Junior College in Kurla who accepted Rs 400 to allow a student to cheat. The peon also revealed that some teachers and peons were involved in the racketTHE Mumbai Divisional Board has slapped a suspension notice on a peon of Shivam Vidya Mandir School and Junior College in Kurla for taking a bribe to help a SSC student cheat during exams.
This move comes in the wake of a MiD DAY sting operation where the peon, Deepak, accepted Rs 400 (for one paper) from reporter Urvashi Seth, who went undercover as a tutor who wanted to help her student cheat.
Deepak even revealed that some teachers along with other peons were involved in the racket.
When contacted, Joint Secretary of Shivam Vidya Mandir School Manikar Kartmal did not reveal what action will be taken against the peon.
All he said was, According to the school procedure we are going to take action.
Suryakant Patil, Secretary of Mumbai Divisional Board, said a notice has already been sent to the school.
We have sent a letter to the school management asking it to suspend the peon for corrupt practices. We will also probe the matter, said Patil.
