Ahmedabad: The number of dead in yesterday's collision between a CNG-run state transport bus and a chemical tanker in Anand district rose to 29 today, the police said here. A total of 29 bodies have been recovered so far and the police have been able to identify six of them. They include four women and drivers of the bus and the tanker. Most of the victims were charred beyond recognition, the police said. Fourteen people were also injured in the accident. The mishap occurred when the bus, which was headed towards Vadodara on National Highway No 8 in Anand district, hit the chemical tanker while trying to overtake. Traffic was restored on the highway this morning and the road was cleared of chemical which had spilt from the tanker, officials said. Three passengers, who received severe burn injuries, were transferred to the Civil Hospital here, while three others were admitted to SSG Hospital in Vadodara in a serious condition. Seven others were admitted in the Karamsad Hospital, officials said.
