Three people were killed when a goods auto collided head-on with a motorcycle in the Sarita Vihar area of South Delhi on Monday evening.

The accident occurred on the stretch between Madanpur Khadar and Sarita Vihar. As the goods auto collided with the motorcycle, carrying Manoj Kumar(24) and Ashok Kumar (25).

A scooter coming from behind also rammed from behind. Satish Sharma(37), on the scooter along with his two daughters, hit the auto after being thrown off by the collusion.

Without helmets

According to the police, Manoj and Ashok, both residents of Madanpur Khadar were without helmets.

Manoj, Satish and his daughter Mona (10) were rushed to AIIMS where they succumbed to their injuries. The other two Ashok and  Monika (13), Satish's elder daughter, suffered head injuries in the accident. Satish, who runs a construction company, is a resident of Greater Noida.   
    
"We have seized the goods auto and registered a case. The driver fled from the spot but will be arrested soon.

“Many people in the border areas avoid wearing helmets as it is away from the city. Had the victims worn helmets they would have been saved," said a police official.
