 | | Caught: Ramrati and Gajender Singh, who were involved in the murder of Prem Raj (inset) in Vikaspuri, arrested by the police in New Delhi on Tuesday | The West District police have arrested two persons, including a woman in connection with the murder of a man, who was found charred to death in a house at Vikaspuri. On Monday, the body of the victim, later identified as Prem Raj, was found charred to death with his legs tied in a staircase at DG III block in Vikaspuri. Initially, the police team visiting the spot concluded that the murder was the handiwork of a local and not an outsider. It also found bloodstains and fresh footprints inside a flat-that has been lying vacant for many years- near the spot. Disclosed everything After initial investigation, the police found out that the owner of the flat had left for United Kingdom, and had given the keys to his niece Ramrati, who used to visit the flat once in a while. “Teams were made to trace Ramrati. Many people said that a youth of ill repute visited the flat. Ramrati and her friend Gajender Singh were at last traced at a house in Nehru Vihar. After interrogation she disclosed everything,” said Sharad Agarwal, DCP (West). Illicit relationship According to the police, Ramrati, a widow had developed illicit relationship with her friend Gajender Singh, a tailor; after her husband died in a road accident many years ago and the two were also staying together. “Ramrati's brother-in-law Prem Raj, who worked in a car showroom, had come to know about the relationship and had threatened to expose her. The duo then hatched a conspiracy to kill Raj,” added DCP Agarwal. According to the police, Ramrati invited the victim to the flat on Sunday, as she had the keys to it. After serving sedatives mixed lassi, Gajinder stabbed him several times and then set on fire to conceal the identity of the deceased.
