Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Arjun Singh has been admitted to the ICU at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for gall bladder stones, left ventricular failure and a host of other problems.

The 78-year-old Congress leader went to AIIMS on Wednesday night and was moved to the ICU yesterday.

"He was admitted to the hospital at 10 pm on Wednesday. He was diagnosed with acute cholecystitis, meaning gall bladder stone associated with diabetes and left ventricular failure," AIIMS medical superintendent D K Sharma said.

"He is also suffering from coronary artery disease, diabetic nephropathy (kidney related problems) and chronic obstructive airways disease," Sharma added.

Sharma, however, said there was "nothing to worry" about the condition of the minister who has a history of diabetes.
