Mumbai: Hearing an appeal filed by the State of Maharashtra, against the acquittal of alleged paedophiles Duncan Grant and Allan Waters, the Supreme Court has directed the Mumbai Police to impound the passports of the two British nationals on Thursday.
In its appeal, the state has also appealed for life imprisonment in the quantum of their punishment.
"The court issued prohibitory orders and directed the embassy against issuing any travel document to the accused," said Ravindra Adsure, counsel for the state.
The apex court has also asked the duo to explain why an arrest warrant should not be issued against them. The matter will be heard after four weeks.
