Surat:

The horror continues: Bite marks found on body of student

A student found dead at Asaram Bapu's ashram in MP has human teeth marks on his body, an autopsy revealed. Forensics experts are now ruling out evidence of sexual assault. While the ashram teacher and hostel warden have been detained for questioning, the school itself has been shut down till completion of probe.

A panel of forensics experts including Dr DK Sakalaya from NSCB Medical College, Jabalpur, and Dr CS Jain of Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, conducted the autopsy at Chhindwara's district hospital on Friday evening. The panel found disturbing evidences during the course of autopsy and the entire procedure was recorded on a video. Nikunj Kumar Srivastav, Collector and District Magistrate of Chhindwara, speaking to Sunday MiD DAY confirmed the bite marks.

Forensic experts found bite marks on Vedanta's back and have also collected swabs to rule out any attempt of sexual assault. Also, nail clippings and viscera have been preserved for both chemical analysis and hysto pathological tests. And, they have concluded the death as unnatural.

Ahmedabad and Surat became terror targets in a span of four days and yet both cities were targeted differently - Ahmedabad was rocked by 17 blasts killing 40 people and injuring over 100. Surat was lucky not to have a single blast though as many as 27 bombs were recovered in three days.

Sunday MiD DAY asked Colonel (retired) Mahendra Pratap Choudhary (67), ex-Director, National Security Academy, that given these two situations, what he thought about the possible people behind the blasts. Could the same network that triggered blasts in Ahmedabad have planted duds in Surat?

The clue is in the failed timer chips, he says, "If all chips were bought from the same shop and were of the same make, company and lot, the fault may lie with the chip. Police need to find out who bought them, when, and from where; they may have been bought in bulk by a retail customer."

Chaudhary also adds, "Two things are possible. If the bomb maker was the same in Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Surat, then he was supplied with faulty chips in Surat. If the timer chips worked and the bombs did not explode then the fault lies in bomb making and as there seems to be a common mistake due to which bombs did not explode then it could only be the absence of a booster charge. This could prove that the bomb maker is a novice. But a forensic lab exam of the explosive content will prove this."
