A husband in Peterborough in East England allegedly hammered to death his wife, an Indian woman who recently came to England.

Chitradevi Chandran aged 31 years, was rushed to the District Hospital on Saturday morning and was later shifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital where she died Monday.

According to a post-mortem report, Chandran, who was working as a nurse in UK, died of severe head injuries.

The deceased's 56-year-old mother who received serious head injury during the incident was hospitalised and is now in a stable condition.

Anburaj Arjunan aged 31 years, has been charged with attempt to murder of Chandran and her mother and was produced before the Cambridge Crown Court.

Neighbours described Chandran, who came to England from India three months ago, as "lovely, kind, caring and pretty".
 

However, the motive behind this murder was not yet known but investigations are on.
