Marking the 61st anniversary of the BEST services, Mumbai Mayor Shubha Raul, while travelling in one of these buses said they deserve 100 per cent marks for their impeccable services.

Raul said BEST buses are safe and affordable and that more and more people should opt for this public transport and minimise the number of private vehicles plying on the road.

The Mayor herself has been travelling by bus since her school days and continues to do so often.

"BEST buses plough to all major roads of the city making it a very convenient option and special facilities are available for the handicapped persons and senior citizens," she said.

Speaking about the recently introduced Smartcard facility, Raul said that people can travel both by road and railway using this card thus making it a favourable option.

When asked about the limited number of AC buses in the city, Raul said that it would be increased only when the number of passengers travelling by AC bus increases.
