The police who are investigating the rape case of a 22-year-old Pune BPO employee say they are waiting for the victim to come out of her shock and reveal facts and clear the inconsistencies surrounding the case.
Pragya Sonawane (name changed), who works at the IBM call centre in the  Phursungi area of Pune, was allegedly raped by 10 men on Thursday night.

According to the police complaint filed by her boyfriend, Hansraj Brahmane, Pragya received a call from her office on Thursday night to return to office. The office cab picked her up, but before she could reach office, she was gang-raped by the cabbie and 10 accomplices near a hillock.

However, her roommates say that she was at home the whole of Thursday night. Also, the police, who examined her cell phone records, did not find any call received entry.

The cops also revealed that there were no entries made in the IBM logbook regarding the office cab picking up the girl.

Investigating officer, Inspector Ravindra Kasal said, "It is true that an incident has taken place. But not on Thursday night, as reported by her friend. It may be before or on Friday. Also we are not yet sure of the gang rape."

Said Deputy Superinten-dent of Police, Pune, Ravindra Pardeshi, "There are several loose ends right now. It will all be clear only after the girl comes out of her shock."

The police are manning the gyaenecology ward of Sassoon General Hospital, where she was admitted on Saturday evening, and are not allowing anyone to meet her. Her mother arrived last night from her hometown in Nandurbar district after learning of the incident. Pragya's brother Siddharth and Hansraj took her to Hadapsar police station on Friday evening. She was then taken to the Loni Kalbhor police station, as the incident occurred in their area.

Sub-Inspector M N Sanadhi of Hadapsar police station said, "It did not look like the girl had been sexually assaulted, as there were no bruises on her body. But she was in a state of shock. Bhramane, who said he was her boyfriend, did all the talking. He told us that she was raped on Thursday night."
