Mumbai:

More than 20 school children were injured when a staircase railing collapsed at Anza High School in Byculla on Wednesday morning.

The children sustained minor injuries and were sent home after being examined by a school physician.

Principal Mansi Dali dismissed the incident as minor.

"The accident took place during recess with some boisterous children from the higher secondary classes. They were returning to class when the staircase banister gave way. This resulted in them falling over each other. The children have been sent home and all is calm now."
