Former Wipro employee Abdul Subhan Qureshi alias Taufiq (31), who is wanted by the police for allegedly sending the threat e-mail after the Ahmedabad blasts, is also one of the men responsible for the 2006 Malegaon blasts.

An ATS officer said that Abdul is one of the most intelligent activists of SIMI. None of the other activists know what Qureshi does, as he is always on move and does not provide his address to any one.
Abdul had also stored the Ammonium Nitrate used in the Ahmedabad blasts in a house at Bharuch and he was one among the bomb makers, besides being the main strategist and planner.
'Untraceable'
Said an ATS officer, "He was present at the Indore meeting where SIMI chief Safdar Nagori and others were arrested. He left the meeting just an hour before the raid."
ATS chief Hemant Karkare said, "We have been searching for Qureshi for a long time. He is always on the move and has not been traceable. We have got certain clues about him and are enquiring about him."
And according to Ahmedabad's Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashish Bhatia, "We have arrested SIMI's Abul Bashar, but Qureshi seems to be the mastermind."
Qureshi, who is married and has a one-and-a-half-year-old child, hails from a family of butchers.
The family stays in Naya Nagar in Mira Road and they have been under the police scanner ever since Qureshi ran away from home four years back after the police came to know about his SIMI connections.
